nnq : day three

by C5Damani (old head of the movement)

“How refreshing to consume words that have meaning and depth. In the great and honored tradition of wisdom literature and if there is anything that could be called instant wisdom, ‘nigga notes & quotes’ fills that void. This book may be the finest book of quotes, anecdotes, sayings and sage bromides any people struggling for human dignity and liberation will ever read.”

day three

I figured these quotes pertinent giving the reactions to the Amber Guyger trial’s verdict and its aftermath including the jail time sentenced as well as the peculiar (to some) behavior of a Black bailiff, the presiding Black Judge and Jean Botham’s family.

“…the majority of black people still have some faith in America and feel that this country will ultimately respond to their needs. The system of oppression, with all its dehumanizing effects, has been quite successful in brainwashing many black people to believe that beneath its exploitive tactics lies a humanitarian concern for their welfare. This guise of latent self-righteousness makes it very difficult for oppressed people to lose complete faith in their oppressors and, because of this guarded optimism, black people seem willing to wait for the system to vindicate itself.”

“…oppressors have always expected the oppressed to extend to them the understanding and moral forbearance so lacking in themselves.”

*Since most of these quotes were collected prior to 1985 it means some of the authors of these quotes, I have simply forgotten… blame old age! (Ha) When the author is known, I will indicate it. When an author is not indicated, please forgive me and understand. Furthermore, this collection of quotes was first started as a personal endeavor never meant to be shared publicly thus the reason why some authors may not be indicated.
