nnq : twenty-six

by C5Damani (old head of the movement)

“How refreshing to consume words that have meaning and depth. In the great and honored tradition of wisdom literature and if there is anything that could be called instant wisdom, ‘nigga notes & quotes’ fills that void. This book may be the finest book of quotes, anecdotes, sayings and sage bromides any people struggling for human dignity and liberation will ever read.”

– day twenty-six –

“…the slave never did fully accept his role, but it became clear to him that the odds were too great for effective protest and he prudently resigned himself to a period of servitude. His only real options were slavery or death, although thousands chose death, the vast majority elected to live for the day when the odds against their freedom would be less conclusive. The slave resigned himself to what he could not change, but he did not accept his status as moral, inevitable, or permanent.”

“…many black spokesman prescribe self-respect and self-esteem for black people without giving a sharp or substantial analysis of the social resources needed to obtain such qualities, as well as an analysis of political and economic reasons that prevent these qualities from flourishing in many urban black communities across the country.”

“…a meeting of the minds will have to precede any advancement of our combined fortunes. The question is whether we will be able to overcome the malicious efforts and forces that divide us and be able to put group interests before petty prejudiced and preconceived notions. Or will we all end by turning our backs on each other and going our way in anger.”

*Since most of these quotes were collected prior to 1985 it means some of the authors of these quotes, I have simply forgotten… blame old age! (Ha) When the author is known, I will indicate it. When an author is not indicated, please forgive me and understand. Furthermore, this collection of quotes was first started as a personal endeavor never meant to be shared publicly thus the reason why some authors may not be indicated.
