nnq : day THIRTY!

by C5Damani (old head of the movement)

“How refreshing to consume words that have meaning and depth. In the great and honored tradition of wisdom literature and if there is anything that could be called instant wisdom, ‘nigga notes & quotes’ fills that void. This book may be the finest book of quotes, anecdotes, sayings and sage bromides any people struggling for human dignity and liberation will ever read.”

– day THIRTY! –

John Witherspoon, you are not with us anymore. BUT while you were… you were hilarious as the father-figure in iconic scenes in TV shows like the Wayans and movies such as Friday, Next Friday and Friday After Next. You were an OG in the comedy game going all the way back to the Richard Pryor Show. Thank you for “co-o-o-o-ordinating” in Boomerang and entertaining us with your crew which included legends Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Robin Harris, Moms, George, etc, etc. My brother, you brought the “funny” …”bang, bang, bang.”

John Witherspoon, our dear brother … Rest in Power… Rest in Laughter!

To honor our dear brother comedian John Witherspoon who transitioned to be with the “GREAT I AM” today, and on this, the last day of 30 days of “nigga notes & quotes”, the month-long preview of the forthcoming quote book for the empowerment of the Universal Black Family, I leave the reader with one last joke.

____________

Sometimes during the push for Civil Rights in the mid 1950’s, news reporters were asking white residents of the deep south state of Mississippi how they felt about the relationship between blacks and whites in their community.

One white plantation owner, “Jim” who was also the town Sheriff, was asked about his relationship with sharecroppers on his plantation. He bragged proudly, that his “nigras” were very happy and completely satisfied with just the way things are.

To prove his point, he called one of his elderly workers, named Leroy, over to talk to the reporter.

“Leroy tell the reporter how you are so happy with how things are”, said Jim.

“Ok”, said Leroy.

“First, Mr. Reporter I need to ask you a question”, said Leroy. “Is this going to be on television?”

“Yes”, said the reporter.

“Is it going out live right now”, asked Leroy.

“Of course”, answered the reporter.

“Well”, said Leroy, “in that case I have only one thing to say…

“…HELP!!!!”.
